The fruity-floral citrus scent of Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is uplifting and promotes relaxation and refreshment. Often used as aromatherapy during times of sadness, or topically on oily and overactive skin.† May cause photosensitivity if used prior to sun exposure.
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) oil is derived from the fruit of its European citrus tree and is a cross between a sour orange and a lemon. Many are unaware that this oil is used in the popular Earl Gray tea. The oil is extracted from the peel and often blended in perfumes as a balancing and enhancement agent. Personal use benefits of Bergamot essential oil include relaxation, antispasmodic properties, immune system support, and digestion support.†
"...In a study published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Italian researchers have proven bergamot essential oil's amazing antifungal properties when used as a topical remedy for infections brought by candida fungus strains."† Mercola.com

A variety of extraction methods are used to create essential oils. These methods include distillation, cold-press, and CO2 extraction. Bergamot essential oil is extracted using the cold press method.
To get quality citrus oil without losing antioxidant and other beneficial properties, cold press extraction is required. Since the oil is taken from the peel, it is also vital that the source is organic and pure. Cold press extraction or scarification, is obtained by compressing the rinds of the citrus without the use of heat—thus the term “cold”.
We recommend storing your citrus oils in the refrigerator and using them within 12-18 months after opening.
