Lemon Essential Oil for Pregnancy-Related Nausea

For some women, the first months of pregnancy, or even beyond, can be brutal if nausea and morning sickness are severe. Thankfully, Lemon essential oil may be one of the key remedies to this typical, yet miserable symptom of pregnancy. According to Dr. Axe, "A study was published [in March of 2014] that evaluated how lemon aromatherapy affects pregnant women during bouts of nausea and vomiting. Astoundingly, of the 100 women that participated in the study, reports of symptoms dramatically decreased just after 2 days compared to the placebo group. After 4 days the essential oil group experienced an average of 33% decrease in nausea and vomiting!"

Cold Press Extraction Method

A variety of extraction methods are used to create essential oils. These methods include distillation, cold-press, and CO2 extraction. Lemon essential oil is extracted using the cold press method.

To get quality citrus oil without losing antioxidant and other beneficial properties, cold press extraction is required. Since the oil is taken from the peel, it is also vital that the source is organic and pure. Cold press extraction or scarification, is obtained by compressing the rinds of the citrus without the use of heat—thus the term “cold”.

We recommend storing your citrus oils in the refrigerator and using them within 12-18 months after opening.
